Following La Liga from outside Spain means dealing with two things at once: finding the rights holder, and adjusting to a schedule built around Spanish evenings. The second catches people out more often than the first.
Coverage has also become less concentrated than it once was. Where a single subscription channel used to hold everything in most markets, packages are now routinely split, and some matches turn up on free-to-air services that carry no other football at all.

Kick-off times, and why they work in America's favour
A Saturday night fixture at nine o'clock local time is normal here, and Sunday matches can finish close to midnight in Madrid. From Britain that is an hour earlier and perfectly manageable. From the United States it is better than manageable: the day's biggest match lands mid-afternoon on the east coast and around lunchtime on the west.
That is the practical reason La Liga travels across the Atlantic more comfortably than the English evening kick-offs, which arrive in the American morning. If you are choosing which European league to follow from a US timezone, the schedule is a real argument.
