Reading the round
English rounds spread from Friday to Monday, so a club can go into a Sunday fixture already knowing what everyone around it has done. That matters at both ends of the table and it is why the late Sunday slot tends to produce the cautious football.
Form here counts only finished matches, so a club with a game in hand looks worse than it is. Home and away records matter more than they look in a league this early: two home wins from two says less about a club than the same two results in November will.
Betting on this round

The fixtures worth a second look are the ones where the table and the form disagree: a club sitting high after a soft opening, or one near the bottom that has played the two hardest away games available.
